History

Wave Weapon Surfboards has been building quality custom surfboards since the beginning... The company, renowned worldwide for its products, was founded by Louis David Lytle(Lou Dog). He surfed and shaped for many years with some of the biggest names in the sport.

Lou started surfing in the late 60's early 70's on the East Coast, tackling hurricanes, swells, sharks, and long trips to Sebastian inlet two to three times a week. Years later, he moved to Huntington Beach, Ca. and enjoyed traveling to different spots like: Mexico, weathering the bitter cold of Ocean Beach up in San Francisco, and the North Shore of Oahu. He also found a break that was simply incredible in size and shape. He came back to Oceanside and told his local buddies Johnny Boyden and Brad Barnes about this epic place, that is now known to all surfers as Mavericks.

By the late 70's and early 80's, he rode on Dick Brewer's Brewer Hawaii Surfboards, and some Owl Chapman Underground boards. Being a test pilot and surfing on prototype boards for companies, he soon learned to duplicate boards in shaping rooms and facilities all around the country and honed his skills, which quickly paid off.

In the early 80s Lou Dog started the Dogs Wave Weapons. Coming from a long family line of dedicated Americans soldiers and Pioneers, as far back as 1692 when his fore fathers landed in North Carolina from Scottland. His dedication and respect for every American who laid there life down for their country Lou used his ideass and faith for Wave Weapons and in God we trust. Lou has helped thousands of surfers push their abilities in the water by custom shaping boards to suit their upcoming skills and needs. But that was just a start for after shaping he got into custom graphics as well. Still using the same G-Baldwin airbrushes from the 70's, his technique is superior to all others. Customers have come from around the world and paid as high as $2,000 to have a full-length board done with a graphic or mural.

Wave Weapon boards won't be found in your local surf shops for they are strictly personal, custom-shaped boards. There will never be a computer, CAD system designing and running a production line that all the big names use, regardless of what they preach. With little to no overhead, Wave Weapons can produce better quality products that will last over time. We are willing and able to take the extra steps that create this superior product like:

Lou has been a Christian for over 25 years and deacons at Calvery Chapel of Oceanside and also does the legendary Pastor Joey Buran, ex-pipeline champion.

Surfing is a contact sport and believe it or not you can really get hurt if you don't focus on the following things:

*YOUR SURFBOARD*
	1) The Nose
	2) The Fins

OTHER SURFERS
	1) Their lack of resposibility for not holding onto their boards while paddling out or wearing leashes!
	2) Always watch to see if others in the water make eye contact with you and acknowledge your path.

THE OCEAN BOTTOM
	1) Rocks
	2) Reefs
	3) Sand Bars
We have not mentioned the importance of the ocean's currents and believe you need to become familiar with the surface on which you are performing this sport on... like snow! Please refer to Surfline.com for the latest on stroms, currents, and other factors in your area.
